Braden 'Clavicular' Peters, a 20-year-old influencer known for promoting looksmaxxing—a controversial trend advocating extreme measures to alter one’s appearance—was hospitalized on Tuesday evening after suffering a suspected overdose.

Several individuals were seen carrying Peters’ limp body into a black vehicle following the abrupt end of his livestream. According to People, Peters was slurring his words and repeating phrases toward the end of the broadcast.

On Wednesday morning, Peters shared a selfie revealing severe cuts, bruises, and dried blood on his face. The caption read:

“Just got home, that was brutal. All of the substances are just a cope trying to feel neurotypical while being in public, but obviously that isn’t a real solution.”
“The worst part of tonight was my face descending from the life support mask.”

In looksmaxxing terminology, Peters referred to his face “descending from the life support mask” as a decline in attractiveness.

What Is Looksmaxxing?

Looksmaxxing is a trend rooted in male incel communities that promotes extreme and often dangerous methods to enhance physical appearance. These methods range from superficial practices like skincare and exercise to far more hazardous techniques, including:

  • Cosmetic surgery
  • Testosterone and other hormone injections
  • Use of illicit substances
  • “Bonesmashing”, a self-harm practice involving striking one’s face with a hammer to purportedly strengthen the jawline

Peters has openly discussed injecting testosterone and consuming controlled substances since the age of 14. Notably, he has advocated for the use of crystal methamphetamine—a highly dangerous drug—to lose weight, despite its severe health risks.

Controversial and Criminal Behavior

Peters’ dangerous advocacy is not his only concern. He is currently under investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission after a video surfaced last month showing him discharging a firearm near an alligator.

Additionally, Peters was arrested earlier this year on misdemeanor battery charges following an incident where he allegedly instigated a fight between two women and later posted the footage online for exploitation.

Why Looksmaxxing Is a Public Health Concern

Peters’ hospitalization serves as a stark example of the extreme and life-threatening risks associated with looksmaxxing. The movement preys on the insecurities of young people, encouraging them to engage in harmful behaviors that can lead to severe physical and mental health consequences.
