Nearly a year after introducing direct messaging (DMs) to all mobile users, Meta is expanding the feature to the web. The company confirms it is currently testing DMs on the web platform, with plans to make it widely available "soon."
On the web version of Threads, users can now access their inbox and message requests. Privacy settings mirror the mobile experience, allowing users to choose whether to accept DMs from anyone or only from people they follow.
Meta is also preparing to test group chats on the web, a feature already available on mobile. Additionally, the company is developing "more controls" for users to manage their messaging experience.

This update follows Meta’s broader push to integrate Threads more deeply into its ecosystem, aligning it with the functionality of platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
