Microsoft appears to be preparing to expand its Xbox Game Pass subscription service to China, based on new evidence discovered in an update to the Xbox PC app.
In a recent update, references to "Project Saluki" were found, with Microsoft describing the codename as "China market expansion for Game Pass, Rewards, and subscription tiers."
Currently, Microsoft does not offer Xbox Game Pass in China, despite selling Xbox consoles in the country. Microsoft first launched the Xbox One in China in 2014, becoming the first video game console to do so after a 14-year government ban on game consoles was lifted.
Microsoft also distributes a variety of games in China through Activision Blizzard, but the availability of Xbox Game Pass remains limited in the region.
