Carson Beck is participating in his first rookie minicamp with the Arizona Cardinals this weekend, and another quarterback’s status became a key topic during head coach Mike LaFleur’s press conference on Friday.
Quarterback Jacoby Brissett has not been involved in the team’s offseason workouts as he seeks an adjustment to his current contract. LaFleur addressed the status of ongoing conversations regarding Brissett’s potential return to the team.
"Ongoing. Everything’s good from a dialogue standpoint," LaFleur said. "Like we said, this is voluntary. So that’s where we’ll leave it."
When asked if he felt the team was at a disadvantage due to Brissett missing time in a new offensive system, LaFleur emphasized Brissett’s experience.
"He’s played a lot of football. We’re in communication, he knows what the expectation is."
With Brissett away, Carson Beck and Gardner Minshew are receiving additional reps. If either quarterback capitalizes on the increased playing time, Brissett’s absence could influence the starting lineup when the regular season begins.
