The Minnesota Vikings officially announced the signing of defensive lineman Eric Johnson on Wednesday, marking another move to bolster their defensive roster.

Johnson, 27, brings experience from his time with the Indianapolis Colts, where he played 12 games during the 2024 season. His contributions included six tackles, with action taken on 131 defensive snaps and 16 special teams plays.

Johnson’s NFL journey began when the Colts selected him in the fifth round of the 2022 draft. He spent his first two seasons in Indianapolis before being claimed off waivers by the New England Patriots ahead of the 2024 preseason. During his tenure with the Patriots, Johnson appeared in 11 games.

In May 2025, Johnson returned to the Colts after being claimed off waivers from the Patriots. Over the course of his career, he has appeared in 51 games, accumulating 41 tackles, including two for loss. His defensive impact also includes one sack, three quarterback hits, and one fumble recovery.
