The Minnesota Vikings have officially added two young defensive players to their roster. On Monday, June 9, 2025, the team announced the signings of defensive lineman Smith Vilbert and linebacker Bangally Kamara as undrafted free agents (UDFAs).
Both Vilbert and Kamara had previously participated in Minnesota’s rookie minicamp on a tryout basis, showcasing their potential during the evaluation period.
Smith Vilbert’s College Career
Vilbert’s collegiate journey spanned multiple programs. He began his career at Penn State before transferring to North Carolina. In 2025, he played for the Tar Heels, contributing to the team’s defensive efforts.
Bangally Kamara’s Collegiate Path
Kamara’s football career included stops at three universities. He started at Pitt, transferred to South Carolina, and completed his eligibility at Kansas during the 2024 season.
The Vikings’ additions of Vilbert and Kamara reflect the team’s ongoing efforts to bolster its defensive roster with emerging talent through undrafted free agency.
