MUBI has acquired worldwide rights to ‘Nuisance Bear’, the documentary directed by Gabriela Osio Vanden and Jack Weisman, the company announced on Wednesday.

The film made its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where it competed in the U.S. Documentary Competition and won the U.S. Documentary Grand Jury Prize.

MUBI will reveal its release plans for the film in the coming months.

‘Nuisance Bear’ represents the feature debut of Osio Vanden and Weisman, building on their acclaimed 2021 short film of the same name. The short premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was shortlisted for the Academy Awards.

The feature-length documentary offers an immersive, character-driven portrait of a polar bear navigating a world transformed by human activity.
