The New Orleans Saints have signed cornerback Martin Emerson as a free agent this week. Emerson, who tore his Achilles during training camp with the Cleveland Browns last summer, missed the entire 2024 season. At a Thursday press conference, Emerson confirmed he has been fully cleared to return to physical activity and expects to practice without restrictions at training camp this summer.
Emerson was selected by the Browns in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. During his time in Cleveland, he primarily served as a starter. In 2024, he recorded 80 tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery while appearing in every game.
The Saints' cornerback depth chart also includes Kool-Aid McKinstry, Quincy Riley, Isaac Yiadom, Rezjohn Wright, and seventh-round draft pick TJ Hall.
