The New York Giants have bolstered their defensive line by agreeing to terms with veteran defensive tackle D.J. Reader on a two-year contract. The deal, reported by multiple outlets, includes $12.5 million in base salary and can reach up to $15.5 million with incentives, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Reader, who will turn 32 in July, brings extensive experience to the Giants' roster. He spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Lions, where he started all 17 games in 2025. During that time, Reader played 53% of the Lions' defensive snaps, recording 28 total tackles and four quarterback hits.

Over his 10-season career, Reader has accumulated impressive statistics. He has registered 12.5 sacks, 27 tackles for loss, and 56 quarterback hits. Reader has appeared in 137 games, starting 128 of them, while playing for the Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals, and Detroit Lions.
