Klubnik brings experience to the Jets' quarterback room, having started 40 games at Clemson. He was selected as the fifth quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. Geno Smith remains the projected starter for New York, with Klubnik joining Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe as backup options. The team has also reportedly engaged in discussions with Russell Wilson about potentially joining the quarterback competition.

Payne arrives with an impressive college resume, having started all 52 games played by Kansas State over the past four seasons. His collegiate statistics include 196 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one sack. The Jets are set to host their rookie minicamp this weekend, which may lead to additional signing announcements in the coming days.
