OpenAI has officially introduced its latest artificial intelligence model, GPT-5.5, which the company describes as its "smartest and most intuitive to use model yet." It represents a significant step toward a new paradigm for completing computer-based work.
Just last month, OpenAI released GPT-5.4, but the new GPT-5.5 is designed to excel in several key areas, including:
- Writing and debugging code
- Conducting online research
- Creating spreadsheets and documents
- Seamlessly integrating across multiple tools
According to OpenAI, GPT-5.5 is engineered to handle messy, multi-part tasks with minimal user intervention. The model can autonomously plan, use tools, verify its work, navigate ambiguity, and persist through challenges without constant oversight.
"Instead of carefully managing every step, you can give GPT-5.5 a messy, multi-part task and trust it to plan, use tools, check its work, navigate through ambiguity, and keep going."
OpenAI has not yet disclosed additional details about GPT-5.5, including its release date, pricing, or availability.
