The ambitious project to develop a Paranormal Activity video game has come to an abrupt end. According to a statement from the solo developer, the project was abandoned after Paramount Pictures, the rights-holder of the franchise, declined to extend the necessary rights for the game's development.
The developer, who had been working independently, expressed disappointment over the decision. In a post on social media, they stated:
"After months of hard work and dedication, I was unable to secure an extension for the rights from Paramount. Without their approval, I cannot proceed with the project."
The game was intended to be a fresh take on the Paranormal Activity universe, offering fans a new way to experience the chilling atmosphere of the franchise. However, without the rights extension, the project has been shelved indefinitely.
This development comes as a disappointment to fans of the franchise, who had been eagerly anticipating the game. The Paranormal Activity series, known for its found-footage horror films, has a dedicated fanbase that spans over a decade.
As of now, there are no plans to revisit the project. The developer has moved on to other ventures, and the future of a Paranormal Activity game remains uncertain.
