Persona 5: The Phantom X 4.0 Update: New Characters, Story, and Release Date Revealed

Atlus has officially announced the upcoming Persona 5: The Phantom X 4.0 update, set to launch on April 30, 2026. The patch introduces two new characters, Manaka "Ange" Nagao and Shoki "Luce" Ikenami, alongside expanded story content and gameplay enhancements.

Following a scheduled maintenance period, players will gain immediate access to the new characters and narrative progression. Ahead of the update, Atlus will host a Persona X-Stream presentation on April 29, 2026, at 5:00 AM PT / 8:00 AM ET via YouTube, where further details about the update will be revealed.

New Characters and Their Roles

The 4.0 update introduces two playable characters with distinct roles:

• Shoki "Luce" Ikenami – A Phantom Thief who wields the Persona Ghino. Classified as a Strategist, Luce specializes in dealing Bless damage and is designated as a four-star unit.
• Manaka "Ange" Nagao – Introduced as a Phantom Idol, Ange serves as a five-star Support unit with the role of Elucidator. Her Persona is Euterpe.

Official artwork for both characters has been released by Atlus, providing players with their first look at Ange and Luce.

New Opening Theme and Gameplay Preview

In anticipation of the update, Atlus unveiled a new opening cinematic for Persona 5: The Phantom X 4.0, featuring the song "Show Stealer" performed by Lyn Inaizumi. The opening prominently showcases Luce, marking his introduction as a key member of the Phantom Thieves.

What to Expect in the 4.0 Update

The Persona X-Stream presentation will cover a range of new additions, including:

• Expanded story chapters
• New in-game events
• Additional gameplay features

Prior to this update, the Persona 5 Royal crossover was introduced in the mobile version of the game, featuring Goro "Crow" Akechi and his Persona, Robin Hood.
