Panic has officially announced Playdate Season 3, a third installment of curated surprise games, set to launch later this year. While specifics remain limited, Panic’s Head of Playdate, Greg Maletic, confirmed in an announcement video that Season Three will arrive "in time for the holidays."
The wait between seasons has been notably long: Season One launched with the Playdate console in 2022, while Season Two debuted in 2023—three years after its predecessor. Panic has not yet disclosed the number of games included in Season Three or its pricing.
Season One featured 24 games, released at a pace of two per week over 12 weeks. Season Two scaled back to 12 games (plus Blippo+), priced at $39. Despite the reduced quantity, Season Two was widely praised for its stronger overall game quality compared to Season One.
Fans have expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming season, eager to see what new surprises Panic has in store. In a separate announcement, Panic also revealed that the highly anticipated game Office Chair Curling is now available for purchase on Playdate and Steam, with support for online cross-play.
