More than half of American adults believe the U.S. House should vote to impeach President Donald Trump, according to a new poll. The survey, conducted by Strength in Numbers, a data-based news website, and Verasight, a market research platform, found that 55% of respondents support impeachment proceedings.
Among those surveyed, 37% opposed impeachment, while 8% were unsure. The poll included responses from 1,514 Americans collected between April 10 and April 14.
Trump’s Approval Ratings Continue to Decline
Trump’s approval ratings have fallen sharply since his second term began. According to the New York Times’ daily average of dozens of polls, his approval rating now stands at 38%. On January 27, 2025, shortly after Inauguration Day, his approval rating was 52%—a 14-point drop in just a few months.
Legal and Political Hurdles Remain High
Despite growing public support for impeachment, the path to removal appears difficult. Calls from lawmakers to impeach Trump or invoke the 25th Amendment have intensified, particularly after his controversial remarks about Iran. However, success remains unlikely due to Republican majorities in the U.S. House and Senate, as well as strong backing from his cabinet.
Midterms Could Shift Political Landscape
If Americans view the upcoming midterm elections as a referendum on the administration’s failures, the results could significantly impact races nationwide. Trump’s declining approval ratings may influence voter sentiment, potentially reshaping the political landscape in November.
