If you’ve visited ProPublica’s website or encountered our work on platforms like Apple News or Instagram recently, you may have noticed some changes. The organization has introduced a refreshed visual identity, including a new logo and typefaces, as well as a redesigned homepage to improve how our investigations and supporting materials are presented.
We’re sharing the details of these updates to explain what’s changed—and why.
Structural Improvements to the Homepage
The most significant changes are structural. Many of our investigations include supporting materials, such as visual explainers, methodology details, or tip submission options. Our new design consolidates these elements, making it easier for readers to access the full context of our reporting. Additionally, the homepage now highlights more of our best investigations from the archives, giving readers a chance to discover reporting they may have missed.
The refreshed design ensures that investigations are packaged with supporting materials—like methodology notes or translations—and better showcases our commitment to visual journalism.
Enhanced Article Presentation
We’ve also improved how articles are presented. This includes providing more details about our journalists and partners, along with their photos and secure contact information for tip submissions. Many of our articles are now available in multiple languages or as audio narrations, with these options now more prominently displayed. However, our focus remains on the core of our work: rigorous reporting and compelling visual storytelling.
A Modernized Visual Identity
ProPublica’s new logo and typefaces are bolder and cleaner, while still reflecting the classicism of our name. They’re designed to maintain consistency across the many screens where our work appears—from websites to social media. Our previous visual identity was created before mobile phones and social media became ubiquitous, and it was time for an update.
This new look extends to ProPublica’s presence on platforms like Instagram and Apple News, where we’ve refreshed our visuals to ensure greater recognition and distinctiveness.
What Remains Unchanged
Despite these updates, our core values remain steadfast: a commitment to investigative reporting in the public interest, unwavering independence, and the rigorous standards we apply to every story we publish.
