Subnautica 2 continues the series’ tradition of early-game resource gathering, and Copper remains a critical material for crafting electronics, including the essential Scanner.

Where to Find Copper in Subnautica 2’s Early Game

Starting Area: Below Your Lifepod

The fastest source of Copper is located just below your starting Lifepod. Descend into the nearby cave to find a cluster of deposits.

Inside the cave, you’ll encounter:

  • A functional Oxygen Plant to refill your air supply.
  • A brain-like structure called Acidic Raion, which contains Copper deposits on its walls.
  • A large Copper deposit positioned above the Acidic Raion.
  • Titanium and a Portable Locker for additional resources.

Cutting the Acidic Raion yields a core used to craft Medical Gel Sacs, essential for First-Aid Kits. The Oxygen Plant is actually a living organism that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen using radiation.

Early Game Benefits

With these resources, you can immediately craft:

  • The Survival Multitool.
  • Basic Batteries using the Acidic Raion core.
  • The Scanner for navigation and resource tracking.
  • A component for the Flashlight blueprint, found later in the same cave.

Subnautica 2’s early zones are designed to be resource-rich, making them ideal for setting up your base and tools before venturing deeper into the alien world.

Additional Early-Game Tips

Near your Lifepod, you’ll also find an adaptation that lets you safely consume the planet’s hazardous flora. The accompanying voice log adds a chilling touch to the discovery.
