The Los Angeles Rams have officially declined the fifth-year option on the contract of cornerback Emmanuel Forbes, as confirmed by an NFL personnel notice. The decision was widely anticipated, as exercising the option would have fully guaranteed Forbes a $12.6 million salary in 2027.

Forbes was selected 16th overall by the Washington Commanders in the 2023 NFL Draft, but his tenure in Washington lasted less than two full seasons. The Commanders waived Forbes in December 2024, and the Rams subsequently claimed him off waivers.

In his first season with the Rams, Forbes, now 25, started 14 games and appeared in all 17 regular-season contests. He logged 814 defensive snaps and 82 special teams snaps, recording 45 tackles, three interceptions, 18 passes defensed, and one forced fumble in 2025.

However, Forbes' postseason role was limited. He did not start either of the Rams' final two playoff games and played just 29 defensive snaps across those contests, which included matchups against the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks.

Forbes joins a growing list of 2023 first-round draft picks whose fifth-year options have been declined. He is one of five players selected in the first round of the 2023 draft to face this outcome.
