Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy is being discharged from the hospital today, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Hardy was shot in the upper leg early Sunday at a concert in Mississippi. He was transported to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, after the incident and underwent surgery. Hardy was listed in stable condition following the procedure.

Hardy, a native of Oma, Mississippi, plans to travel to Missouri’s campus to begin his rehabilitation in hopes of returning to play this season, Thamel reported.

Hardy transferred to Missouri from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (UL Monroe) in 2025. In 2024, he rushed for 1,351 yards at UL Monroe.

In his first season at Missouri, Hardy ranked second among FBS players with 1,649 rushing yards. He earned first-team All-America honors and was named SEC Newcomer of the Year. Hardy scored 16 touchdowns and averaged 6.4 yards per carry on 256 rushing attempts, finishing as a finalist for the Doak Walker Award.
