The NFL’s global ambitions are set to reach new heights in 2026, with a record nine international games scheduled as part of the league’s continued expansion beyond U.S. borders.

During a conference call to unveil the 2026 schedule, NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Hans Schroeder emphasized the significance of international play in the league’s long-term strategy.

"We know all 272 matchups, we know what the next year's going to look like with every team, who everybody's playing. A key area is the league's continued global expansion, and our most ever, nine games played outside the United States."

The 2026 international slate will feature one game each in Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Munich, Mexico City, and Madrid, alongside three games in London. This marks the highest number of international games ever scheduled in a single season, surpassing previous records.

The NFL views international games as a cornerstone of its growth strategy, integrating them into the league’s schedule on an annual basis. The expansion reflects the league’s commitment to cultivating a global fanbase and strengthening its presence in key international markets.
