Medicare’s Shift on Obesity Drugs After BALANCE Pilot Fails
The Trump administration’s attempt to provide affordable obesity drugs to seniors through the Medicare pilot program BALANCE fell short. Insurers did not participate as expected, prompting the administration to pivot to a new approach.
Medicare will now make these obesity drugs available to seniors outside the Part D drug benefit through a new pilot program called Bridge.
