Rivian has officially launched its AI-powered voice assistant today, delivering it to the company’s vehicle fleet through a software update. The assistant will be available to all compatible Rivian Gen 1 and Gen 2 vehicle owners who subscribe to the company’s Connect Plus cellular service.

Connect Plus is priced at $15 per month or $150 per year, or available to users currently in an active trial period.

How the Rivian Assistant Works

First introduced at Rivian’s AI and Autonomy Day last year, the Rivian Assistant is powered by the company’s proprietary Rivian Unified Intelligence—described as “a shared, multi-modal AI foundation” that is “interwoven” throughout the entire company.

The assistant is deeply integrated into the vehicle’s operations, enabling users to control various functions hands-free. It also supports third-party integrations, expanding its utility beyond the vehicle’s native systems.

Key Features and Capabilities

  • Hands-free voice control for climate, media, navigation, and vehicle settings
  • Natural language processing for intuitive user interaction
  • Seamless integration with Rivian’s software ecosystem
  • Support for third-party services and applications

Rivian emphasizes that the assistant is designed to enhance convenience and accessibility for drivers, aligning with the company’s broader focus on intelligent, connected vehicle experiences.
