Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton delivered a positive update on quarterback Bo Nix’s recovery from a right ankle injury during a press conference at the team’s rookie minicamp on Saturday.
Nix suffered the ankle injury in January’s playoff win, and in late April, he underwent a second procedure to address the issue. Payton noted that the procedure was “not a surprise” to either the player or the team.
The Broncos coaching staff expressed optimism about Nix’s progress, stating they feel “real good” about his recovery. Payton also expressed confidence that Nix will participate in some team activities before the offseason program concludes.
“There’s a good chance we see him in this offseason program in June,” Payton said. “We’re going to be the ones kind of holding back, if you will.”
If Nix does not return to practice in June, Payton assured that he will be “clearly full speed” in time for training camp this summer.
