Tesla has announced the launch of its robotaxi service in Dallas and Houston, but early data suggests availability is already scarce.
On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the official @TeslaRobotaxi account posted a 14-second video showing a Tesla Model Y driving autonomously with no human safety monitor in the front seats.

Musk reposted the video on X (formerly Twitter), amplifying the announcement. The post included a link to the service.
However, by Sunday evening, crowdsourcing data from Robotaxi Tracker—an online platform monitoring autonomous vehicle activity—indicated that the service was largely unavailable in both cities.
