The hosts of The View shared their opinions on the 2024 Met Gala looks, but Alyssa Farah Griffin quickly shut down Joy Behar’s criticism of Janelle Monáe’s outfit.
The Met Gala, held annually on the first Monday in May, took place on May 6, 2024, with the theme “Costume Art: Fashion is Art.” On Tuesday, May 7, the ABC hosts reviewed the most memorable and controversial outfits from the night.
Behar criticized several looks, including Monáe’s, saying:
“Like, for instance, Janelle Monáe. She looks like a tree in The Wizard of Oz. All you need are apples to fall.”
Farah Griffin immediately interrupted, defending Monáe with a firm response:
“You will not come for Janelle Monáe at this table!”
She argued that Monáe consistently delivers bold, iconic Met Gala looks. Behar, however, took offense to the interruption:
“Excuse me, I paid attention to yours!”
Host Sara Haines joined in, jokingly telling Farah Griffin to “shut your mouth.”
Behar also mocked SZA’s Met Gala dress, saying she “needed a Claritin to just look at the dress.” However, she praised Bad Bunny’s Wolf Blitzer-inspired outfit, calling it her favorite of the night.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
