Time Crisis is returning to PlayStation consoles with a major upgrade: gyro aim controls. The classic light-gun shooter will join the PlayStation Plus Premium library on May 19, 2026, marking its first-ever appearance on PS4 and PS5.
Following its initial release as part of the PlayStation Plus Classic lineup, the game will also become available for separate purchase on the PlayStation Store. Access to the title through a PlayStation Plus membership requires a subscription to the $17.99 per month plan.
Originally designed as a light-gun shooter, Time Crisis pioneered arcade-style shooting mechanics. The addition of gyroscopic controls introduces a new aiming method for players, though the announcement did not confirm whether motion controls will extend to reloading or dodging.
The PlayStation Blog and Bandai Namco announcement also revealed that the Kantaris Deal expansion, featuring additional mission stages, will be included. The base game follows protagonist Richard Miller as he rescues the kidnapped daughter of a newly elected president in a foreign country. The extra missions delve into illegal weapons manufacturing in the same region.
Time Crisis first launched on the original PlayStation and in arcades, cementing its legacy as a staple of the light-gun genre. The upcoming release will be available on both PS4 and PS5 as part of the PlayStation Plus Premium Game Catalog collection.
