This week’s indie game roundup highlights fresh releases, upcoming showcases, and must-watch events for gamers. From a long-awaited cyberpunk platformer to a new action-adventure title, there’s plenty to explore. Here’s everything you need to know.

Upcoming Indie Game Showcases to Watch

If you’re eager to discover new indie titles, mark your calendars for April 25, when the Indie Life Expo kicks off at 5 AM ET. The event will stream live on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Bilibili, and other platforms, showcasing over 200 games. A rapid-fire segment, Indie Waves, will feature 160 of these titles. Organizers received 1,100 submissions for this edition, making the selection particularly competitive.

Before that, Top Hat Studios Presents: Spring Showcase 2026 will take place on April 21 at noon ET on the publisher’s YouTube and Twitch channels. The stream will debut Motorslice, Well Dweller, and the survival horror game Becrowned, along with other Top Hat titles. A precise release date for Motorslice—expected in May—may also be revealed during the event.

InterfaceX26: A Unique Steam Event

From April 27 to May 4, InterfaceX26 will run on Steam, focusing on games with custom interfaces and fake operating systems. Over 150 developers and publishers are advocating for Valve to introduce an official "Fake OS" tag for these titles. The event will feature a sale and a showcase on May 2, including games like Blippo+, TR-49, and The Roottrees are Dead. Demos and new releases will also be available.

New Indie Game Releases This Week

Replaced: A Cyberpunk Adventure Finally Arrives

Replaced, the highly anticipated cyberpunk action platformer from Sad Cat Studios and publisher Thunderful, launched this week on Steam, GOG, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s also available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The base game costs $20, while the supporter edition—including the soundtrack—is $25. A release on the Epic Games Store is planned for a later date.

The game was originally scheduled for 2022 but faced delays, including the studio’s relocation from Belarus to Cyprus due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Despite the challenges, Replaced has debuted to generally positive reviews.

Set in an alternate 1980s America, Replaced is a 2.5D action platformer where players control an AI trapped in a human body. The game’s retro-futuristic aesthetic and engaging gameplay have generated significant buzz.

Gecko Gods: A Long-Awaited Action-Adventure

Gecko Gods, an action-adventure game I’ve had on my radar since around 2022, also launched this week. While details remain under wraps, its arrival is a welcome addition to the indie scene. Stay tuned for more updates as I dive into the game this weekend.

Why These Games and Events Matter

Indie games continue to push creative boundaries, offering unique experiences that larger studios often overlook. Events like the Indie Life Expo and InterfaceX26 provide platforms for undiscovered talent, while releases like Replaced and Gecko Gods deliver fresh gameplay for players to enjoy. Whether you’re a fan of cyberpunk narratives, retro aesthetics, or innovative mechanics, this week’s lineup has something for everyone.
