President Donald Trump has canceled a planned trip to Islamabad by his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner due to Iran's position in ongoing peace negotiations, according to a report by Axios.
The decision comes as Trump emphasized the inefficiency of long-distance travel for negotiations.
"I see no point of sending them on an 18-hour flight in the current situation [of the negotiations]. It's too long. We can do it just as well by telephone. The Iranians can call us if they want. We are not gonna travel just to sit there,"Trump stated.
When questioned about the possibility of resuming military action against Iran, Trump clarified:
"No. It doesn't mean that. We haven't thought about it yet."
He added,
"We have all the cards. We are not going to go there to sit around talking about nothing."
This development is breaking news as of the latest report.
