The Oakland Raiders have ended Jermod McCoy’s wait by selecting him in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. The team traded up to the 101st overall pick, securing McCoy as the first selection of the round.
McCoy’s draft stock was impacted by a significant injury: a torn ACL in his right knee, which occurred in January 2025. The injury forced him to miss the entire 2025 season. Despite the setback, McCoy decided to forgo his final year of college eligibility at Tennessee to declare for the NFL Draft.
His draft position was further influenced by concerns from NFL teams regarding the long-term health of his knee. Prior to his injury, McCoy had established himself as a standout defensive back.
McCoy played one season at Oregon State before transferring to Tennessee, where he became a one-year starter. In 2024, he earned second-team All-SEC honors after recording four interceptions during the season.
In exchange for McCoy, the Raiders sent a 2027 seventh-round draft pick to the Buffalo Bills to finalize the trade.
