The Washington Commanders have named Ryan Kessenich as their new director of college scouting, according to a report by Neil Stratton of ScoutSpeak.
Kessenich, who started his NFL scouting career with the Commanders in 2005, is returning to Washington after spending four years with the San Francisco 49ers. His tenure in San Francisco began in 2019, where he collaborated with Adam Peters before Peters left to become the Commanders' General Manager in 2024.
Kessenich brings extensive experience to the role, having previously scouted for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Chicago Bears. He also had two separate stints at Northwestern University and served as a scout for the Senior Bowl for one year before joining the 49ers in 2019.
He will replace Tim Gribble, who departed in January to join the Pittsburgh Steelers as a scout.
