Ford and Carhartt have introduced a 2027 Super Duty Carhartt special edition, blending America’s best-selling heavy-duty pickup with the iconic workwear brand. The collaboration targets tradespeople with a package that includes distinctive styling cues and rugged features.

The special edition is available exclusively on XLT Crew Cab single rear-wheel 4x4 models. Key upgrades include:

  • A dark-painted grille
  • Unique 20-inch wheels
  • All-terrain tires
  • Textured off-road running boards
  • Spray-in bedliner
  • Carhartt graphics throughout the cabin
  • Interior details inspired by Carhartt’s Duck Canvas workwear

While the cabin features Carhartt branding, it does not use actual Carhartt Duck Canvas fabric. According to a Ford spokesperson,

"Automotive standards have to pass different tests than apparel, notably around abrasion resistance and soil repellency."
This explains why the truck’s upholstery and materials differ from Carhartt’s traditional fabrics.

Manhole Covers Inspire Wheel Design

Designers from both companies spent nearly a year developing the truck, drawing inspiration for the wheel design from manhole covers outside Carhartt’s Detroit flagship store. The result is a cohesive aesthetic that aligns with the Super Duty’s work-truck persona, avoiding the pitfalls of superficial badge engineering.

Marketing to the Already Converted

Ford and Carhartt have long catered to the same audience—tradespeople who value toughness, durability, and hard work. This collaboration reinforces that shared identity rather than targeting new buyers. As one observer noted, it’s unclear whether this will sway undecided customers, but it likely strengthens brand loyalty among existing Super Duty and Carhartt fans.
