The 2004 Wayans Brothers comedy White Chicks may be polarizing, but for its devoted fans, it’s a nostalgic masterpiece. Now, Shawn and Marlon Wayans have hinted at a sequel—White Chicks 2—but only if their latest project, Scary Movie 6, succeeds at the box office.
The brothers made the remarks during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, alongside Scary Movie 6 star Anna Faris. When asked about a potential White Chicks follow-up, the Wayans didn’t mince words.
"These people don’t play about White Chicks," Marlon Wayans said, reflecting the intensity of fan demand. His brother, Shawn Wayans, agreed, adding, "Yeah, they’re not playing."
The duo then dangled a carrot: If Scary Movie 6 does well, a White Chicks 2 could happen.
Rumors of a White Chicks sequel aren’t new. In 2009, Sony and the Wayans announced they were developing a follow-up. The original film, made on a modest budget, grossed over $100 million, making a sequel a financially sound proposition.
The film’s legacy extends beyond box office numbers. Co-star Terry Crews once joked that he enjoyed making White Chicks so much that he felt "depressed" afterward. Meanwhile, the directing duo behind Everything Everywhere All At Once, known as Daniels, have expressed interest in remaking the film as a hard-R, Oscar-worthy drama.
With Scary Movie 6 now in theaters, fans of White Chicks may soon get their wish—if the movie’s performance meets the Wayans’ conditions.
