Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka is poised to take on an expanded role in Tampa Bay’s offense this season, and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson believes he is more than ready for the challenge. With veteran receiver Mike Evans now playing for the 49ers, Egbuka’s responsibilities are expected to increase significantly.

Robinson, who previously coached Cooper Kupp during his tenure with the Los Angeles Rams, drew a comparison between Kupp’s football IQ and Egbuka’s natural instincts on the field. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Robinson emphasized Egbuka’s adaptability and readiness to integrate into the team’s new offensive scheme.

"He doesn’t have to change a thing. I think he’s come back, he’s refreshed. He played a ton of snaps and obviously played a lot of college football leading into that season and played a ton of snaps [there]. I think Mek’s just going to take huge, huge strides. He knows the new terminology and is asking great questions. Mek’s just got to be Mek and do his thing and he’ll be just fine."

Robinson outlined Egbuka’s role in the Buccaneers’ base offense, where he is expected to settle into the flanker position. However, Robinson also noted that Egbuka’s football instincts make him a versatile asset who can be moved around to exploit matchups and optimize the passing game’s effectiveness this fall.
