Runner 5, we are so back.

Starting tomorrow, fans of Zombies, Run! will be able to download a new eight-part story for the fitness app—a comeback that feels nothing short of a miracle.

From Humble Beginnings to a Fitness Phenomenon

Launched in 2012, Zombies, Run! quickly became one of the first fitness apps to cultivate a dedicated community. Its unique formula—combining a couch-to-5K training plan with immersive audio storytelling set in a zombie apocalypse—struck a chord with runners and gamers alike.

The Acquisition and Near-Death Experience

The app’s success caught the attention of OliveX, a company known for crypto and NFT products, which acquired Six to Start—the studio behind Zombies, Run!—in a deal that raised eyebrows. Following the acquisition, the app struggled, mirroring the fate of many indie games and apps post-takeover. Just over a year ago, nearly all of Six to Start’s staff, except for two, were laid off, leaving the future of Zombies, Run! uncertain.

Yet, against the odds, the app has defied expectations and is returning with fresh content for its loyal fanbase.

Zombies, Run! will release its new eight-part story starting tomorrow, offering fans a renewed opportunity to lace up their running shoes and dive back into the zombie-infested world.
