A Date with Death 2: Remnants, the sequel to the 2023 free dating sim, launched its Kickstarter campaign on April 30, 2026 and was fully funded in a single day.
Two and a Half Studios initially sought $28,783 to develop the new visual novel featuring grim reapers. As of the time of writing, over 2,300 backers have pledged more than $184,000. The campaign will conclude on May 30, 2026, ensuring the project is fully funded.
A Steam page with a demo is already live, and the game is scheduled for release in Q1 2027. The base game will be free, but an expansion DLC will be available for purchase, offering additional story content, endings, and customization options.
In the original A Date with Death, players created a customizable avatar on the verge of death who could meet and fall in love with their assigned grim reaper. A Date with Death 2: Remnants introduces a new fully customizable protagonist who trains to become Grim Reaper 0213 alongside Grim Reaper 5012 (Atlus). Players can customize their character’s appearance, gender, and pronouns while engaging in phone calls, texts, and uncovering truths about the afterlife—potentially even finding love.
The campaign offers multiple pledge tiers, including a minimum contribution of ~$9 for the paid expansion and name inclusion in the credits. For $16, backers receive a digital art book, and for $33, they gain access to beta tests.
All four stretch goals were met, unlocking additional character customization options, an ending animation, an optional NSFW patch, and walking character sprites. A trailer for the opening animation is available.
A Date with Death 2: Remnants is in development for PC, with a planned release in Q1 2027. The original dating sim is currently available on PC.
