How to Get a Fully Functional Fabricator in Subnautica 2
Early in your Subnautica 2 playthrough, your Fabricator is restricted to early-game recipes only. To experience the full game, you’ll need a fully functional Fabricator. However, there’s no direct fix—you must build one yourself. Below is a step-by-step guide to crafting the Habitat Builder tool and constructing a new Fabricator.
Why You Need a Fully Functional Fabricator
Your Lifepod’s Fabricator is "jailbroken," blocking access to most blueprints. To unlock all recipes, you must progress far enough to craft the Habitat Builder tool and build a new Fabricator with full capabilities.
Step 1: Craft the Habitat Builder Tool
Before crafting the Habitat Builder, you’ll need two tools from your Lifepod’s Fabricator:
- Survival Multitool – Requires 3 Titanium.
- Scanner – Requires the following materials:
- Titanium (2)
- Quartz (2)
- Basic Battery (1)
Where to Find Materials:
- Titanium & Quartz: Found while exploring the ocean.
- Basic Battery: Requires 2 Copper and 1 Acidic Raion Pouch.
- Copper: Typically found in side caves.
- Acidic Raion Pouch: Obtained from pink Acid Raion plants in caves using your Survival Multitool.
After gathering materials, craft the Scanner. Then, locate and scan at least two old Habitat Builder tools (found in caves or at the Digestion Angel Comb) to unlock the Habitat Builder blueprint.
Habitat Builder Tool Materials:
- Titanium (2)
- Glass (1)
- Basic Battery (1)
- Copper Wire (1)
Step 2: Build the Fabricator
With the Habitat Builder tool, follow these steps to construct a fully functional Fabricator:
- Place a Corridor: Open the Habitat Builder menu and place a corridor (costs 2 Titanium).
- Add a Hatch: Connect a hatch to the corridor (1 Titanium + 1 Quartz).
- Construct the Fabricator: Place the Fabricator inside (1 Titanium + 1 Copper + 1 Quartz).
- Power It: Build at least one Solar Panel (1 Titanium + 2 Quartz). If it’s nighttime, add a second panel.
Once your base is powered and the Fabricator is built, you’ll unlock all previously restricted blueprints, resolving the "Requires Fully Functional Fabricator" error.
