NFL veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been in Pittsburgh for several days, but the Pittsburgh Steelers have not yet met with him, according to a report from Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Rodgers has not made an appearance at the team’s facility during this weekend’s rookie minicamp, despite earlier speculation that he might connect with new players. Instead, the Steelers have been in contact with Rodgers’ agent regarding contract negotiations.

While some reports suggest financial concerns are not the primary issue, NFL contracts for veteran players are fundamentally about compensation. Last season, Rodgers earned a base salary of $13.65 million, which is below the market rate for quarterbacks of his caliber. The key questions now are: the salary Rodgers is seeking, the amount the Steelers are willing to offer, and whether their figures can align.

Steelers Coach Addresses Potential Fourth QB Spot

On Saturday, Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy spoke with reporters about the possibility of Rodgers officially joining the team before Organized Team Activities (OTAs) begin on May 18.

"Three quarterbacks is the normal. Four would be awesome."

McCarthy’s remarks suggest the team is open to the idea of adding Rodgers, though no official meeting has occurred between the player and the organization.
