In March, Amazon announced new 1-hour and 3-hour delivery options for tens of thousands of items across over 2,000 U.S. cities. Now, the e-commerce giant is taking speed a step further with the launch of Amazon Now, a 30-minute delivery service.
Starting today, Amazon Now is available in select U.S. cities. Here’s everything you need to know about the service.
What is Amazon Now?
Amazon Now offers delivery of thousands of products within 30 minutes or less. It complements Amazon’s existing fast delivery options in the U.S., including:
- Prime Air drone service: Under 60-minute delivery in eight cities
- 1-hour and 3-hour delivery: Available in over 2,000 locations
- Same-day delivery: Available in more than 10,000 towns and cities
Amazon Now aims to make ordering even the simplest items online more convenient than visiting a nearby store, such as Walgreens, located 15 minutes away.
According to Amazon, 30-minute deliveries are possible thanks to a network of smaller, strategically placed fulfillment locations designed for efficient order processing. In most areas where Now is available, the service operates 24 hours a day.
Which products are eligible for Amazon Now 30-minute deliveries?
Amazon Now deliveries are limited to select products from the following categories:
- Alcohol (where permitted)
- Baby
- Bakery
- Dairy and eggs
- Electronics
- Fresh produce
- Health
- Personal care
- Pet
Where is Amazon Now available?
As of today, Amazon Now is available in four U.S. cities and metro areas:
- Atlanta
- Dallas-Fort Worth
- Philadelphia
- Seattle
Amazon plans to rapidly expand the service to dozens more cities, including:
- Austin
- Denver
- Houston
- Minneapolis
- Oklahoma City
- Orlando, Florida
- Phoenix
The company expects to expand Amazon Now to additional cities by the end of 2026.
How much do Amazon Now deliveries cost?
Amazon Now deliveries come with an added fee, depending on your Prime membership status:
- Prime members: $3.99 for orders over $15; $1.99 small-order fee for orders under $15
- Non-Prime members: $13.99 for orders over $15; $3.99 small-order fee for orders under $15
