‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’, the first new Star Wars film in seven years, is just around the corner. Now, fans can experience the movie’s score in a fresh way, thanks to a new remix by Iraqi-German producer Boys Noize (born Alexander Ridha).
Listen to his exclusive remix below and dive into his thoughts on reimagining Ludwig Göransson’s iconic soundtrack.
Boys Noize’s Remix: A Fusion of Iconic and Innovative
Ridha, a lifelong Star Wars fan, jumped at the opportunity to contribute to the film’s soundtrack. He describes the experience as surreal and deeply meaningful.
“It’s surreal. Having the opportunity to be part of this universe (even in a small way) feels so special. I’m thrilled and genuinely honored.”
His goal with the remix was clear: respect the original theme while infusing it with his signature energy. Ridha explained:
“I wanted to respect the original theme while bringing it into my own world. I didn’t want to lose what makes it iconic, but twist it, reshape it and give it a new kind of energy – something that hits hard and is banging in a different context.”
The result is a remix that retains the familiar bass recorder tones of Göransson’s original score but amplifies them with deeper, fuller layers. The track would fit seamlessly into Ridha’s recent Coachella DJ set, showcasing his ability to blend cinematic grandeur with high-energy beats.
From ‘Challengers’ to ‘Tron: Ares’: Ridha’s Cinematic Journey
This remix is the latest in a string of cinematic collaborations for Ridha. He previously released an entire ‘Challengers’ remix album for Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, followed by a collaboration with the duo on the ‘Tron: Ares’ score. Their partnership extended to live performances, including a pair of Coachella shows and an album under the moniker Nine Inch Noize.
When asked about future movie music projects, Ridha was unequivocal:
“Absolutely. It’s always a huge pleasure to create music with a visual world or story in mind. There’s something really inspiring about creating to images, characters and narratives. I’ll definitely keep exploring this space more and more, because it feels very natural to me as a way of writing music.”
R2-D2: Ridha’s Favorite Star Wars Character
Ridha also shared his favorite Star Wars character: the beloved droid R2-D2. He revealed that the synth used to create R2-D2’s iconic voice—an ARP 2600—is one of his all-time favorite machines, further cementing his connection to the franchise.
