New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis recently indicated that the outcomes of the NFL Draft could influence whether star defensive end Cam Jordan returns to the team in 2026. However, he emphasized that recent moves involving veteran players might carry even greater weight in the decision.
The Saints executed a trade to acquire defensive end Tyree Wilson during the draft and signed linebacker Anfernee Jennings on Sunday. These additions bolstered the team’s defensive front, potentially reducing the likelihood of Jordan returning for a 16th season with the franchise.
Jordan addressed the situation publicly on Sunday, expressing his desire for a positive resolution while acknowledging that the team has not yet replaced him. He also recognized the realities of the NFL’s business side.
"I don’t know," Jordan said, via Matthew Paras of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "There's nobody who produced the way I did last year, so. My talent speaks for itself. And if things work out, phenomenal. I've always said I understand the business side to it, so I've never worried about it."
With the draft concluded, all 32 NFL teams now have a clearer picture of their roster situations. If the Saints have indeed moved on from Jordan, other teams may present opportunities for him to continue his career elsewhere.
