The Carolina Panthers are bolstering their quarterback depth with the signing of undrafted free agent Haynes King. According to NFL Media insider Tom Pelissero, the Panthers and King have agreed to terms on a contract that includes $250,000 in guaranteed money.
King, a former Georgia Tech quarterback, visited the Panthers during the pre-draft process. He spent three years as a starter for the Yellow Jackets after transferring from Texas A&M. In his most recent season, King completed 252-of-361 passes for 2,951 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. Additionally, he showcased his rushing ability with 185 carries for 953 yards and 15 touchdowns.
This signing comes after the Panthers made other quarterback moves earlier in the offseason. The team signed free agents Kenny Pickett and Will Grier to backup roles. Additionally, Carolina traded last year’s backup quarterback, Andy Dalton, to the Philadelphia Eagles.
