Control: Ultimate Edition Launches on iOS and iPadOS

Remedy Entertainment has released Control: Ultimate Edition for iPhone and iPad, priced at just $5. The game, originally launched in 2019, has been optimized for touchscreen devices while retaining its full AAA experience.

The Ultimate Edition includes all DLC episodes and features a rebuilt user interface and controls tailored for iOS and iPadOS. Remedy has also adjusted aiming mechanics and puzzles to better suit touchscreen gameplay, though the game remains fully compatible with physical controllers for an enhanced experience.

Device Compatibility

To run Control: Ultimate Edition, your device must meet the following requirements:

  • iPhones: A17 Pro chip or newer (iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, 16 series, and 17 series)
  • iPads: M-series chip or A17 Pro chip (excludes basic iPad with A16 processor)

During testing, the game ran smoothly on an iPad Air with an M4 chip, delivering a high-quality experience. However, a minor critique was noted: sprinting requires holding the L3 button continuously rather than a single press, which differs from other platforms.

Gaming on Apple Devices: A Growing Trend

Control: Ultimate Edition joins a growing list of high-profile games available on Apple platforms. Recent additions include Resident Evil titles, Death Stranding, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Cyberpunk 2077, and Lies of P. While Apple devices may not yet rival dedicated gaming consoles, the influx of AAA titles enhances the gaming ecosystem for Apple users.

Remedy’s release underscores Apple’s ongoing efforts to attract developers to its platforms, expanding gaming options beyond traditional consoles and PCs.
