Cover Corporation has announced the shutdown of Holoearth, its metaverse platform designed for Hololive VTubers, on June 28, 2026.

The platform, which enabled virtual concerts, performer interactions, events, and games, will immediately cease all sales of premium currency. Sales of user-created items and official premium items will conclude on June 3, 2026.

Refunds for unused Premium HoloCoin and Creator Points will be available from June 29, 2026 to September 30, 2026. Refunds will only apply to unused currency and not to purchases made just before the cutoff dates.

Official Statement and Apology

"We sincerely apologize for the situation," said Project Lead Ikko Fukuda. "We hope to utilize this technology again in the future."

The developer did not provide specific reasons for the shutdown.

Holoearth’s Development Timeline

  • October 2021: Cover first announced Holoearth as part of the Hololive Alternative project, envisioning VTubers in alternative worlds.
  • November 2022: A beta test for the platform’s chat features launched.
  • April 2023: Microtransactions were confirmed for the metaverse.
  • 2024: The beta was used for virtual events, including the Hololive Super Expo 2024.
  • April 2025: Holoearth officially launched version 1.0.

Platform Availability and Refund Details

Holoearth was available on Windows PCs. The shutdown date remains June 28, 2026, with the refund process running from June 29 to September 30, 2026.
