Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders recently highlighted a missed opportunity by the Jacksonville Jaguars regarding star player Travis Hunter. Sanders made the remarks while discussing his desire to engage with the Cleveland Browns as a coach, not as a father, during a podcast interview.

In 2025, Sanders noted that the Browns did not inquire about coaching his son, Shedeur Sanders, despite his experience. The Jaguars’ silence on Hunter, however, stood out even more.

"Even a guy like Travis Hunter, being drafted to Jacksonville, and I’ve had him for the last three," Sanders told Garrett Bush on The Barbershop podcast. "Don't you think you would want to talk to me to let me know, to ask me how — what gets him going and what backs him off and, and what, like, you wouldn't want to know that?"

Sanders argued that his firsthand knowledge of Hunter’s strengths and weaknesses would be invaluable to the Jaguars. The team invested significant draft capital to move up three spots in the 2024 NFL Draft, selecting Hunter at No. 2 overall. Understanding how to maximize his potential—while keeping him healthy—could be critical to the Jaguars’ success.

Despite the investment, the Jaguars have not reached out to Sanders for insights. This lack of communication raises questions about the team’s strategy for integrating Hunter, who is expected to play on both offense and defense.
