Deuce Jones-Drew will follow in his father’s footsteps in more ways than one. Like his father, Maurice Jones-Drew, he is a running back. And now, he will also attend UCLA.

According to Eli Lederman of ESPN, Deuce Jones-Drew has officially committed to play for the UCLA Bruins as part of the class of 2027. He chose UCLA over offers from Arizona and California, narrowing his list from seven potential schools.

Deuce currently attends De La Salle High School in Concord, California. He stands at 5-8 and weighs 175 pounds. While his height is already an inch taller than his father’s, he plans to add weight to his frame in preparation for college competition.

Rated as a three-star prospect, Deuce Jones-Drew was recruited to UCLA by head coach Bob Chesney and running backs coach A.J. Steward, who was retained from the previous coaching staff under Deshaun Foster.

Maurice Jones-Drew’s Legacy at UCLA

Maurice Jones-Drew played for UCLA from 2003 to 2005, where he earned unanimous All-American honors. Drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft, he went on to have a standout NFL career.

Over nine seasons, Maurice Jones-Drew amassed 8,167 rushing yards. He recorded three 1,000-yard rushing seasons, led the NFL in rushing in 2011 with 1,606 yards, and was a three-time Pro Bowler. In 2011, he was also named a first-team All-Pro and finished second in the voting for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, losing to Titans quarterback Vince Young. After eight seasons in Jacksonville, he played his final NFL season with the Oakland Raiders in 2014.
