The Philadelphia Eagles executed a draft-day trade with the Dallas Cowboys, securing USC wide receiver Makai Lemon with the 23rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. In exchange, the Eagles sent Dallas their selections at No. 23, No. 114, and No. 137, moving up three spots in the first round.
This acquisition signals a potential shift in Philadelphia’s wide receiver room. Veteran receiver A.J. Brown is notably absent from the Eagles’ voluntary offseason program as he seeks clarity on his future with the team.
Lemon will join an already talented group of wide receivers in Philadelphia, including DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Hollywood Brown, and Elijah Moore.
During his final college season, Lemon established himself as one of the nation’s top pass-catchers. He led the USC Trojans in receiving for two consecutive seasons, earning All-American honors and winning the Biletnikoff Award in 2025 as college football’s top wide receiver. His senior-year statistics included 79 receptions for 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Cowboys, meanwhile, used their draft capital to select Ohio State safety Caleb Downs with the 11th overall pick. Dallas also moved down from the 20th to the 23rd pick, further reshaping the first-round landscape.
