FuRyu has announced that Exstetra, the JRPG developed by Studio Saizensen for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, will finally receive a worldwide PC release via Steam in Summer 2026. The original game launched in Japan 13 years ago, and its product page is now live with initial screenshots.
While pricing details remain unannounced, an English localization has been confirmed for the remaster.
The Story and Setting of Exstetra
The game follows Ryoma, a young man living in Amazea, a world that blends elements of Tokyo with another dimension. This fusion is destined to collapse, but Ryoma, known as the Prisma, possesses the power to resist this fate.
As the Prisma, Ryoma can absorb EXS from defeated enemies and transfer it to others, transforming them into Prisma Knights. This transformation requires a kiss. Once empowered, Prisma Knights join Ryoma in turn-based battles, where positioning on the battlefield plays a strategic role. Enemies and allies occupy different rows, influencing combat dynamics.
Combat abilities are enhanced through Enchanted weapons, and the game includes relationship mechanics. Characters paired together will counterattack if their ally is targeted, adding depth to the gameplay.
First Screenshots and Localization Details

Preservation and Accessibility
This release addresses preservation concerns, as both the 3DS and Vita digital storefronts have shut down. While physical copies of the original game exist in Japan, the 3DS version requires a Japanese 3DS to play. The PC remaster ensures broader accessibility for fans worldwide.
The original Exstetra launched on the 3DS and Vita exclusively in Japan.
