Florida Democratic Representative Frederica Wilson, aged 83, has not cast a single vote in Congress since April 17, raising concerns about her prolonged absence. Despite this, her team has maintained an active social media presence, including posts that appear to mislead constituents about her whereabouts.

One such post, flagged by Capitol Hill correspondent Jamie Dupree on X, reused photographs from an October event to falsely suggest Wilson was still engaging with her constituents. The lawmaker serves on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the House Committee on Education and Workforce, but has not appeared in any committee hearings since her absence began.

Wilson represents Florida’s 24th Congressional District, covering Miami-Dade and Broward County. She has held the seat since 2013 and is running for re-election in November. According to the Cook Political Report, the district leans heavily Democratic, which typically favors her re-election. However, she faces a primary challenge from Christine Sanon-Jules Olivo, a small business owner with NAACP ties. The Democratic primary is scheduled for August 18.

Wilson is not the only member of Congress to recently vanish without explanation. In late April, House Speaker Mike Johnson contacted New Jersey Republican Representative Thomas Kean Jr. after weeks of unanswered inquiries from journalists, constituents, and party allies. Kean had been dealing with an unspecified “personal health matter.” He remains absent from work.
