Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens signed his franchise tag on April 29, and executive vice president Stephen Jones stated shortly after that the team anticipated his presence at voluntary offseason workouts.

On Monday, the Cowboys held their first team workout since Pickens signed the one-year, $27.3 million deal. However, according to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Pickens was not in attendance.

Voluntary workouts remain optional until June 16, the deadline for mandatory participation. Until then, Pickens is not subject to fines for his absence.

The Cowboys have also announced they will not pursue a long-term contract with Pickens this offseason. Jones has repeatedly emphasized the team's position, stating they have “zero interest” in trading Pickens.

Last season, the Cowboys acquired Pickens in a trade. He led the team in targets (137), receptions (93), receiving yards (1,429), and touchdowns (8) during the 2025 season.
