Google is expanding the availability of Gemini in Chrome to users in new markets, including Australia, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea. The rollout begins today, marking another step in the company’s global expansion of its AI-powered chatbot feature.

The update follows Google’s earlier deployment in Canada, India, and New Zealand, reinforcing its commitment to bringing AI tools to a broader audience. With this expansion, users in the newly supported countries can now access Gemini directly within the Chrome browser.

Accessing Gemini in Chrome

To use the feature, users can tap the "Ask Gemini" icon located at the top right of the Chrome interface. This action opens a sidebar where users can interact with Gemini across all open tabs. The sidebar, introduced earlier this year, provides a seamless way to chat with the AI assistant without leaving the browser.

In addition to text-based interactions, Gemini in Chrome integrates Google’s Nano Banano 2 image generator, allowing users to create visuals directly within the sidebar. The feature also supports integrations with other Google apps, such as adding events to Google Calendar without switching tabs.

Availability by Platform

  • Desktop browsers: Available in all supported countries, including Australia, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea.
  • iOS (iPhone and iPad): Accessible in all supported countries except Japan, where the feature is not yet available on iOS devices.

Customizing the Experience

For users who prefer not to use Gemini, Google offers a simple way to remove the feature. By right-clicking the "Ask Gemini" shortcut, users can unpin it from the top of the Chrome interface, restoring their preferred browsing setup.
